Tasmania regulates occupations through a smaller set of authorities. Consumer, Building and Occupational Services oversees many trade and security pathways, the Property Agents Board covers real estate, and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People applies in child-related settings. Where a licence depends on holding a recognised qualification, RPL can help an experienced worker meet that qualification requirement before dealing with the regulator. RPL it does not assess or issue licences. The delivering RTO conducts the formal assessment, and the authority decides the final registration or licence outcome.

If you’re assessed as competent in every unit, the RTO issues your nationally recognised qualification. If there are gaps, gap training may be needed. Any extra fees are set out in writing before you agree.

Yes. RPL is done remotely. You don’t need to visit a campus in Tasmania or anywhere else. Evidence is submitted online, and the delivering RTO assesses your portfolio. Some trade licences may need a practical demonstration, which can usually be arranged at a workplace near you.
Yes. Qualifications are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and are the same wherever you live. Licensing is different: it’s set by each state, and Tasmania rules can add requirements beyond the qualification.

It depends on a few things. What you influence: how quickly you gather and submit your evidence, and how quickly you respond to requests. What RPL it controls: preparing a complete, well-organised portfolio for the RTO and following up for you. What the RTO controls: its assessment workload, scheduling and issuing the qualification.
As an indication, most of our candidates who submit a complete evidence portfolio receive their outcome within 4–6 weeks of submission to the RTO. This is based on past experience, not a guarantee of your timeline.
