You have the experience. Whether you are operating heavy plant on a civil site, managing complex commercial builds, or maintaining sophisticated engineering systems, your daily work is a demonstration of your competency. In the construction and engineering sectors, lived expertise is often as profound as formal study, yet it frequently remains unrecognised by formal systems. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) bridges this gap by helping you present your work history as valid evidence for a nationally recognised qualification.
Our role at RPL It Australia is to guide you through the process of documenting your expertise. Your experience in trades, supervision, or technical design can be mapped against current training packages such as CPC, RII, MEM, MSF, and UEE. We support candidates seeking recognition across a vast range of levels, from foundational Certificate III trade qualifications like Carpentry or Civil Construction Plant Operations to leadership roles requiring a Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) or an Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design.
Evidence in this industry is practical and tangible. It may include site photographs of your work, technical drawings, safety documentation such as JSEAs, project schedules, and references from licensed supervisors. These documents allow a qualified assessor from one of our partner Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to evaluate your skills against national standards. If the assessor identifies specific areas where your evidence does not fully meet the requirements, gap training is provided by the RTO at no additional cost where applicable to ensure you can address those requirements.
For the many qualifications with a licensing context, such as those in building surveying or air conditioning engineering, obtaining a qualification is often a prerequisite for applying for a trade licence. While the RTO issues the qualification upon successful assessment, it is important to note that the final granting of any licence remains the professional judgement of the relevant state or territory regulatory body.
