You have developed a deep understanding of technique, client consultation, and salon operations through practical application. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) acknowledges that this lived expertise is a valid form of evidence. Whether you are a senior hairdresser, a specialist make-up artist, or an experienced beauty therapist, your skills speak for themselves. We help them be heard by formal systems. By documenting your work history and technical capability, you can present a case for recognition against national standards. This process respects your prior investment in your craft, ensuring you do not have to repeat learning for skills you already master. The evidence required for hair and beauty qualifications often includes a comprehensive resume, references from salon owners or senior stylists, and a portfolio of your work. For technical roles like barbering or nail technology, this might include photos or videos of your services, appointment logs, and records of professional development. Qualifications range from Certificate III in Hairdressing or Barbering through to the Diploma of Beauty Therapy and Advanced Diplomas in Skin Therapy. For those in leadership, the Diploma of Salon Management recognises the strategic expertise required to run a successful business. In specialised fields such as IPL and laser hair reduction, formal qualifications like the Advanced Diploma are often a prerequisite for state-based licensing. While the qualification is a critical component of the regulatory requirements, it is important to note that licensing is granted by relevant state authorities following their own assessment criteria. Our role is to guide you through the compilation of your evidence portfolio. Once complete, your evidence is evaluated by a qualified assessor from one of our partner Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). They determine competency and, where successful, issue the nationally recognised qualification. If the assessor identifies specific areas where your evidence does not fully meet the standard, targeted gap training can be provided at no additional cost where applicable.
