Employer RPL for Skilled Teams.
Get Your Workforce Recognised.
Your employees have built real expertise on the job. Through years of hands-on work, problem-solving, and mentorship, they have developed capabilities that traditional education often misses.
Experience can be evidence. We help you demonstrate that it is.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the formal process that turns that lived expertise into nationally recognised qualifications. Instead of asking experienced staff to re-learn what they already know, RPL assesses their existing skills and identifies only the genuine gaps.
RPL It Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 55 689 826 917) is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by our partner Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), registered with ASQA. Your delivering RTO will be confirmed before enrolment.
How It Works
Workforce Consultation
We start with a conversation about your business goals. We'll help you identify which qualifications align with your workforce needs and which employees are well-positioned for the RPL pathway based on their specific experience.
Individual Skills Review
Recognition shouldn't require starting over. Each employee completes an individual skills review. We are direct and honest about who is a strong candidate and who may be better served by a different pathway. We would rather guide someone to the right path than enrol them in the wrong one.
Evidence Gathering
Your skills speak. We help them be heard. Each employee works with a dedicated consultant to compile an evidence portfolio — employment records, references, project documentation, and work samples. We guide the process to respect your team's time.
Submission to the RTO
Once the portfolio is complete, we submit it to the delivering RTO for formal assessment.
RTO Assessment
The RTO's qualified assessor reviews the evidence against national standards. They may contact employees for a competency conversation or practical demonstration. If gaps are identified, the RTO provides targeted training that builds on existing expertise.
Qualification Outcome
Where the assessor determines an employee is competent, the RTO issues their nationally recognised qualification. If further development is needed, the employee receives clear feedback and a supported pathway forward.
Note: The assessment judgement is made by the RTO's qualified assessor — not by RPL It. We guide the process. They determine the outcome.
Why Employers Choose RPL
Recognition, not repetition
RPL honours the investment your employees have already made in their careers. By recognising skills they already possess, training investment is focused only on genuine gaps — significantly reducing time and cost compared to traditional programmes.
Your work deserves to be counted
Investing in your team's formal recognition signals that you value their contribution. Nationally recognised qualifications provide tangible career progression, which supports retention and reduces the high costs of recruitment and turnover.
Meet regulatory and compliance requirements
Many industries require specific qualifications for licensing or accreditation. RPL helps your team meet these requirements by formally documenting the competencies they demonstrate every day.
Strengthen recruitment
Offering a pathway to formal recognition makes your employment package more attractive. It allows you to recruit candidates who have the skills and the runs on the board, even if they currently lack the formal credentials.
Important: Whether a qualification satisfies a specific licensing or regulatory requirement depends on the relevant state, territory, or industry regulator. We recommend confirming regulatory requirements with the relevant authority before proceeding.

Frequently Asked Questions About Employer RPL
How long does the employer RPL process take?+
For multi-employee programmes, we provide a tailored timeline during your initial consultation. Once a complete evidence portfolio is submitted to the RTO, candidates typically receive their outcome within 4–6 weeks. The overall programme duration depends on the number of employees, the number of qualifications, and how readily available the evidence is. We will give you honest estimates upfront.
Is RPL cheaper than sending employees to training?+
RPL can significantly reduce costs compared to full training programmes because it focuses only on genuine skill gaps rather than re-teaching what your employees already know. You invest in assessment and gap training — not in content your team has already demonstrated through their work. We provide detailed per-employee pricing during your consultation so you can compare directly.
What if an employee doesn't have enough evidence for RPL?+
Not every employee will be a strong candidate for RPL, and that's okay. During the individual skills review, we assess each person's suitability honestly. If RPL isn't the right fit for a particular employee, we will tell you clearly and recommend alternative pathways — such as targeted training or a blended approach. We would rather guide someone to the right path than enrol them in the wrong one.
Important Information for Employers
Individual assessment
RPL is a rigorous, individual assessment process. Even within a corporate programme, each employee's evidence is evaluated personally by the RTO's assessor. Outcomes depend on the specific experience and evidence provided by each individual.
We cannot guarantee that all employees will achieve the qualification. Outcomes are determined by the RTO's independent assessment of each person's skills and knowledge.
Employee consent and privacy
We respect the privacy of your team. Each employee must individually consent to the RPL process and the sharing of their information. Employers will not receive individual assessment results or personal details without the employee's express written consent.
For more detail, see our Privacy Policy.
Suitability
Honesty is the foundation of our process. Not every employee will be suitable for the RPL pathway. The delivering RTO will review each candidate's skills, language, literacy, and digital proficiency prior to enrolment. If RPL is not the right fit, we will provide clear guidance on alternative pathways.
Partner RTO compliance
RPL It works with RTOs that are registered with ASQA and listed on the National Register at the time of engagement. However, RTOs operate independently, and RPL It is not responsible for their ongoing compliance with the Standards for RTOs. If ASQA takes regulatory action against a partner RTO — including cancellation of registration or qualifications — RPL It cannot be held liable for any resulting impact to your employees. Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.
Fees
Employer RPL fees are quoted per-employee and per-qualification. You will receive a detailed proposal outlining the delivering RTO, pricing, and terms before any commitment is made. No fees are collected until your employees have been assessed for suitability and have provided their consent.
Indicative timeframes
Your time respected. Your investment honoured. Your expertise assessed.
Once a complete evidence portfolio is submitted to the RTO, candidates typically receive their outcome within 4–6 weeks. For multi-employee programmes, we'll provide a tailored timeline during your consultation. This is an indication based on past experience — not a guarantee.
