In the ACT, trade and occupational work often sits inside a regulated framework. Access Canberra is the main authority for trade, security and real estate licensing, while Working with Vulnerable People registration applies to child-related and vulnerable-person work. Where a role depends on holding a nationally recognised qualification, RPL can help experienced workers meet that qualification requirement before they deal with the regulator. RPL it does not issue licences or assess competence. The delivering RTO handles assessment, and the regulator decides any licence or registration outcome.

Campus visits, state rules, timing and licences.
Got more questions?Yes. RPL is done remotely. You don’t need to visit a campus in Australian Capital Territory or anywhere else. Evidence is submitted online, and the delivering RTO assesses your portfolio. Some trade licences may need a practical demonstration, which can usually be arranged at a workplace near you.
Yes. Qualifications are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and are the same wherever you live. Licensing is different: it’s set by each state, and Australian Capital Territory rules can add requirements beyond the qualification.

It depends on a few things. What you influence: how quickly you gather and submit your evidence, and how quickly you respond to requests. What RPL it controls: preparing a complete, well-organised portfolio for the RTO and following up for you. What the RTO controls: its assessment workload, scheduling and issuing the qualification.
As an indication, most of our candidates who submit a complete evidence portfolio receive their outcome within 4–6 weeks of submission to the RTO. This is based on past experience, not a guarantee of your timeline.
