About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the job roles of orthopaedic technologists, orthopaedic technicians and cast technicians who are responsible for the fabrication, application, modification and removal of orthopaedic devices and materials. Orthopaedic technologists, orthopaedic technicians and cast technicians work in a hospital setting and deliver orthopaedic technology services to maximise functional outcomes for clients at the request of registered health professionals.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is RPL currently available for the Diploma of Orthopaedic Technology?
We are currently in the process of identifying and partnering with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that have this specific diploma on their scope. At this stage, we are accepting registrations of interest rather than active enrolments.

Is the RPL process the same as traditional study?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning acknowledges the skills you have already developed through your clinical work. It is an assessment-only pathway that treats your experience as evidence, rather than requiring you to repeat training for things you already know.
What are the entry requirements for this qualification?
To be eligible for this diploma, you must have already completed a relevant entry-level qualification such as a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance, Health Services Assistance, Cast Technology, or a Diploma of Nursing.
How do I prove I have met the 400 hours of clinical work?
The RPL process will require you to provide documented evidence of your clinical experience. This can include logbooks, signed third-party reports from clinical supervisors, and employment records that verify your time spent in a clinical workplace environment.
