About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services usually within aviation Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) or flight training organisations. This qualification is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in an aviation workplace context, as a component of a structured vocational education and training (VET) program. Flight instruction duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation and vocational skills and knowledge to a wide range of learners, operating conditions and aviation environments. Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility in known or changing contexts within broad but established parameters. This qualification forms some of the requirements for certification as a flight instructor by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as directed by Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 61 Flight crew licensing.
