About This Qualification

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in a senior or supervising regulatory role for an agency or organisation that has legislated responsibility for fisheries management. In this role, these individuals have responsibility for ensuring that compliance monitoring and administrative procedures comply with legislative and jurisdictional requirements. They plan and promote fisheries management awareness programs for commercial, recreational and traditional fishers and undertake surveillance and report as part of their role. They may have statutory titles such a senior or supervising fisheries officers, compliance officers, inspectors or wardens. All work is carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety, food safety, biosecurity and environmental regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace. Statutory/legislative requirements apply to this qualification and may vary across states and territories. Users are required to check with the relevant jurisdiction for current requirements.
