About This Qualification

The MSM30116 Certificate III in Process Manufacturing provides the competencies required by advanced production workers who use a range of equipment and provide support functions directly related to producing products. They would undertake more advanced roles than workers with a Certificate II in Process Manufacturing, working in accordance with operating procedures and applying knowledge to anticipate problems and solve a range of foreseen and unforeseen problems. This qualification is designed for use across the three process manufacturing sectors: chemical, hydrocarbons and oil refining plastics, rubber and cablemaking manufactured mineral products. It includes the same range of electives, but with different packaging rules to provide a qualification for workers unable to meet the technical requirements of PMA, PMB or PMC. This qualification covers: production support workers - people working in manufacturing and filling the vital production support roles but who may not have the opportunity to develop competency in sufficient technical units related directly to producing productsemployees who operate across more than one category within process manufacturing or 'specialised processes' and elsewhere when required.

Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is RPL currently available for this qualification?
We are currently in the exploratory phase for the Certificate III in Process Manufacturing. We are working to establish partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that meet our standards for rigour and integrity before we offer a guided RPL pathway.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest ensures you are among the first to be notified when an RTO partner is secured. It also helps us understand the demand for this specific manufacturing qualification, allowing us to prioritise its development.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
No. While both result in the same nationally recognised qualification, RPL is an assessment-only pathway. It is designed for those who already have the skills and knowledge, whereas a course is designed for those who still need to learn them.
What manufacturing sectors does this qualification cover?
The MSM30116 is versatile, covering sectors including chemical and hydrocarbons, plastics and rubber, and manufactured mineral products. It is ideal for those in specialised processes who support vital production functions.
What evidence will I eventually need to provide?
When the pathway opens, you will likely need to provide evidence of your ability to solve unforeseen problems, apply quality standards, and maintain safety protocols. This typically includes production logs, safety records, and supervisor testimonials.
