About This Qualification

This qualification is suitable for people working in the maritime industry in the capacity of: Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) OperatorAutonomous Surface Vessels (ASV) OperatorAUV TechnicianASV Technician This qualification reflects the skills and knowledge required to conduct AUV and ASV operations in Near Coastal (NC) waters within the limits of the operators AMSA Certificate of Competency.

Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) certificate of competency for Coxswain Grade 1 NC as specified in MO505, orAn equivalent or higher level of achievement in the command, navigation, or operation of vessels equal to or greater than 12 metres in length in Near Coastal waters.

The outcome is identical. Whether you study or undergo RPL, you receive the same nationally recognised qualification. RPL simply focuses on proving you already possess the skills through evidence rather than re-learning them.
Do I need an existing AMSA certificate for this RPL pathway?+
Yes, this qualification has entry requirements including an AMSA Coxswain Grade 1 NC certificate or equivalent command experience on vessels over 12 metres. We will verify this during your initial skills review.
