This qualification is suitable for people who work in the maritime industry as: Chief Integrated Rating. Licensing/Regulatory Information This qualification is cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) as a Chief Integrated Rating as defined in Marine Orders.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

This qualification is a core component for seafarers seeking the AMSA Certificate of Competency as a Chief Integrated Rating. Achieving this qualification through recognition does not automatically grant a licence; candidates must also meet AMSA requirements regarding sea service, medical fitness, and STCW short courses.

Is RPL for a Chief Integrated Rating the same as completing the course?
Yes. Whether achieved through study or recognition of prior learning, the resulting qualification is the same nationally recognised MAR40121 Certificate IV, valued equally by AMSA and industry employers.
What kind of sea service evidence will I need?
Assessors typically look for verified sea service letters, discharge book entries, and statutory declarations that map your time at sea to the specific competencies of the Chief Integrated Rating role.
Can I use my existing STCW certifications as evidence?
