Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

What Kind of Experience Counts?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is the Advanced Diploma of ESI - Power Systems currently available?
This qualification is currently in our development phase. We are in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in power systems to ensure your experience is assessed with the necessary industry depth.
Why should I register my interest now?
By registering your interest, you ensure you are at the front of the queue when we finalise our RTO partnerships. We will provide you with early access to the skills review process and keep you informed of any specific evidence requirements as they are defined.
Is RPL for an Advanced Diploma the same as studying?
Recognition of Prior Learning is an assessment-only pathway. It is not a training course. While the resulting qualification is identical to one earned through study, the process focuses on demonstrating that your existing expertise already meets the national competency standards.
Can I specialise in a specific area like Protection or Design?
Yes. The UET60222 qualification allows for specialisations such as Design, System Operations, and Protection Testing. During your evidence collection, we will guide you in aligning your work history with the specific specialist group that reflects your expertise.
What happens if there are gaps in my evidence?
If the RTO's assessor identifies areas where your evidence doesn't fully meet the qualification requirements, they will provide a pathway for gap training. This allows you to complete targeted units to bridge those specific gaps without having to repeat what you already know.
How long does the recognition process typically take?
Once the qualification is active, the timeframe depends on how quickly you can compile your evidence portfolio. Most candidates find the process takes between 4 to 12 weeks from the initial evidence submission to the final assessment outcome.
