Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available for RPL?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations to deliver the UEE60220 Advanced Diploma. While not immediately available for enrolment, we are actively preparing the pathway for experienced technical officers.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest helps us gauge demand and prioritise this qualification in our RTO partner network. You will be the first to know when the pathway is open and receive guidance on preparing your evidence portfolio.
Is RPL the same as studying the course?
No. While the qualification awarded is the same nationally recognised outcome, RPL focuses on assessing the skills you have already acquired through years of work. It is a process of recognition, not repetition.
What level of experience is required for an Advanced Diploma?
An Advanced Diploma reflects high-level technical expertise, including the ability to design, validate, and manage complex systems. Most candidates have several years of experience in senior technical or project management roles.
What happens if I have gaps in my evidence?
If the RTO’s assessor identifies specific areas where your evidence doesn't fully meet the standard, we will guide you through targeted gap training. This builds on your existing foundation rather than requiring you to start over.
Who conducts the final assessment?
The assessment is conducted by a qualified assessor from one of our partner Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). They independently evaluate your evidence to ensure it meets the national standards for the electrotechnology sector.
