Licensing for plumbers in Northern Territory
For plumbers installing, maintaining, or repairing water, sanitary, sewerage, drainage, roofing, or gas systems. Here’s what the Northern Territory asks for.
Licence requiredPlumber in Northern Territory
Journeyman registration (plumbing and draining)
- Issued by
- Plumbers and Drainers Licensing Board
- When you need it
- Any plumbing and draining work in the NT. Contracting needs an Advanced tradesman licence.
- What you need
- Cert III in Plumbing completed through an apprenticeship under a registered training contract.
!This regulator asks for a completed apprenticeship, so a qualification gained through RPL won’t be enough on its own for this licence. Talk to us before you start.
Licensing rules change. Confirm the current requirements with the regulator before you apply.
Your experience in this trade
If you’ve been working as a plumber installing pipework, fitting fixtures, doing drainage, gas, roofing, or maintenance you need the right licence to legally work on your own or take on jobs.
The RTO assesses your experience against the qualification standard. Confirm the separate licence requirements above with the regulator before you apply.
