Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is the Diploma of Sport (SIS50321) currently available for RPL?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to offer this specific qualification. At this stage, we are accepting registrations of interest so we can contact you once the pathway is active.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to map your current experience against the qualification requirements early. You will receive priority notification and a preliminary review of your suitability as soon as our RTO partners open the enrolment window.
Is RPL for a Diploma the same as studying?
RPL is a different pathway but meets the same national standards. Rather than attending classes to learn new material, you provide evidence that you already possess the competencies. The resulting qualification is identical to one earned through traditional study.
Will my National Sporting Organisation (NSO) accreditation help with RPL?
Yes. Sport-specific coaching accreditations and industry certifications are excellent forms of evidence. They demonstrate technical expertise that an assessor will consider when reviewing your portfolio for the Diploma of Sport.
Do I need to be currently working in a high-performance role?
While current experience provides the most accessible evidence, assessors look for a history of competency. If you have significant past experience in sports management or development, we can help you determine if that evidence is still valid for assessment.
