About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the role of Shiatsu therapists who provide therapeutic Shiatsu treatments and other oriental therapies. Practitioners may be self-employed as independent practitioners or work in a larger health service.To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 200 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process with relevant RTOs. It also gives you the opportunity to begin preparing your evidence portfolio early with our guidance.
Is RPL the same as completing a course?
No. RPL is an assessment-only pathway that recognises the skills you have already acquired through years of practice. If the assessor identifies gaps in your evidence, you may need to complete targeted gap training rather than a full course.
How does my experience with Oriental medicine count?
The RPL process looks for evidence that you work within the traditional Oriental medicine framework, including your ability to perform health assessments and apply specific Shiatsu techniques to meet client needs.
What if I work as an independent practitioner?
Independent practitioners are well-positioned for RPL. Your evidence may include business records, client feedback, and de-identified treatment logs that demonstrate your ability to manage a clinical practice autonomously.
