About This Qualification
This qualification allows for the attainment of competencies as a range control officer or an assistant range control officer. It also covers the requirements of a range inspector.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver this specific Defence qualification. We are committed to ensuring our partners meet the high standards required for such a technical role.

Is RPL for this diploma the same as completing the course?
Yes. An RPL assessment follows the same national standards as a traditional course. If the RTO's assessor determines your evidence meets the competency requirements, you will receive the same nationally recognised qualification.
How is evidence handled if my range work involved classified information?
We understand the sensitive nature of Defence work and can guide you on how to provide redacted evidence or alternative documentation that demonstrates your competency without compromising security protocols.
Who conducts the final assessment of my experience?
Your evidence will be assessed by a qualified professional from one of our partner RTOs. They will review your portfolio to ensure your skills meet the requirements of the DEF Training Package.
Does my experience as a Range Instructor count toward this Diploma?
Yes, providing technical advice on ranges and training areas is a core component of this qualification; your records of briefings and technical memos are excellent forms of evidence.
