About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the role of individuals licensed to operate a business that trains horses commercially for multiple owners to compete in industry-regulated events in the harness or thoroughbred racing codes. The trainer at this level generally manages a large training establishment with several staff members, often operating interstate and/or internationally, with extensive demands from owners, media and public.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in the RGR Racing and Breeding Training Package. Registering your interest ensures you are notified the moment the pathway is active.
Why should I register my interest now?
By registering, you receive early notification of availability and a preliminary suitability review. This helps determine if your current experience aligns with the Diploma level before the formal process begins.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
The standards are identical. RPL assesses your existing evidence against the same national competencies as a traditional course, ensuring your qualification carries the same industry weight and licensing value.
What are the entry requirements for this Diploma?
Candidates must demonstrate extensive skills and knowledge equivalent to the Certificate IV in Racing (Racehorse Trainer), showing significant experience in horse care, welfare, and stable management.
Will my qualification specify my racing code?
Yes. Upon successful assessment, your qualification will include a statement indicating whether it was achieved under the conditions of the thoroughbred or harness racing code.
