About This Qualification
This qualification has been designed to provide a package of competencies reflecting the workplace capabilities required to conduct and manage a digital forensic investigation. It qualifies individuals to apply integrated technical skills and theoretical concepts in a range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled or paraprofessional work in digital forensics.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that hold this qualification on their scope. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when we can begin guiding you through the assessment process.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering interest allows us to gauge demand and expedite partnerships with the right RTOs. It also ensures you receive early access to the skills review process once the qualification becomes available for recognition.
Is RPL the same as completing a digital forensics course?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that recognises the skills you have already acquired through work experience. It is not a teaching pathway, but rather a way to have your existing expertise formally assessed against national standards.
What kind of experience is required for this qualification?
Candidates typically have a background in conducting digital forensic investigations, managing incident scenes, and handling digital evidence within a defence, law enforcement, or high-level corporate security context.
Do I need to be currently serving in the Defence Force?
While the DEF Training Package is defence-aligned, the competencies apply to many digital forensic roles in the public and private sectors. Your experience just needs to align with the required units of competency.
