About This Qualification
This qualification allows for the attainment of competencies in Defence Public Affairs. This qualification is for personnel who work autonomously within a team environment that requires them to write material for publication, make judgements about the suitability of material for publication within known and changing contexts, and take responsibility for their decisions.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available via RPL?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in Defence Training Packages. While not yet available for immediate enrolment, registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway opens.

Registering allows us to gauge the demand for this specific qualification. This helps us prioritise which RTO partnerships to finalise first, ensuring the recognition pathway is available as soon as possible for defence personnel.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning is an assessment-only pathway. It does not involve new study; instead, a qualified assessor evaluates your existing evidence to determine if you already meet the national standards for the qualification.
What kind of defence experience is suitable for this Cert IV?
Experience in providing public affairs support to military operations, writing for publication, managing media requirements at events, and leading small teams within a communications context is highly relevant.
Will my military service be respected during assessment?
