Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this qualification be available?
This qualification is currently in our development pipeline. We are working to secure partnerships with Registered Training Organisations that specialise in community services to ensure your experience is assessed with the necessary industry insight.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering ensures you are the first to be notified when we begin accepting evidence portfolios for this Diploma. It also helps us gauge industry demand, which can accelerate the partnership process with relevant training providers.
Is RPL the same as studying for the Diploma?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment of the skills you already possess. Unlike a standard course, it focuses on your existing evidence rather than teaching you new material, though the final qualification is nationally recognised and identical.
What kind of experience is typically required?
Candidates for this Diploma often have extensive experience in social change, community leadership, or managing community-based programs across government, non-profit, or social housing sectors.
Will I need to attend a campus for assessment?
The RPL process is evidence-based and generally conducted remotely. You will work with a consultant to compile your portfolio, which is then reviewed by an RTO's assessor without the need for traditional classroom attendance.
