What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?

Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.

You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Why should I register my interest now?+
Registering allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process. It also ensures you receive a preliminary review of your experience so you are prepared once the formal process opens.

No. While a standard course teaches you new skills, RPL is a process of witnessing and assessing the expertise you already possess. It focuses on evidence of your existing competence rather than repetitive study.
Do I need to be affiliated with a specific church for RPL?+
RPL assesses your skills against national competency standards, which are non-denominational. However, specific employers or commissioning bodies may have their own religious requirements for employment.
How do I prove the required 100 hours of work?+
Your consultant will guide you in gathering logbooks, supervisor reports, or third-party verifications that confirm you have completed the mandatory 100 hours of pastoral care work in a professional or volunteer capacity.

Registering your interest means you'd like to be notified when this qualification becomes available through RPL. There's no commitment. We'll contact you when an RTO partnership is confirmed for this qualification.
Why isn't this qualification available yet?+
RPL It works with partner RTOs to deliver qualifications. We're currently exploring RTO partnerships for this qualification. Registering your interest helps us prioritise which qualifications to focus on next.
What happens after I register my interest?+
You'll receive a confirmation, and we'll keep your details on file. When a partner RTO is confirmed for this qualification, we'll contact you with the next steps, including how to start your free skills review.
Can I still do a free skills review for this qualification?+
Yes. A free skills review helps you understand whether your experience aligns with the qualification requirements, regardless of whether an RTO partner is currently available. It's a useful first step while you wait.
