About This Qualification
This qualification covers competencies in mandatory and contractual inspections of electrical systems and auditing of entities for compliance with electrical safety requirements. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is RPL the same as completing a study course?
No. RPL recognises the skills you have already mastered through years of on-the-job experience. It is an assessment-only pathway that values your prior investment in your trade rather than requiring you to repeat training.
Do I need an existing electrician's licence for this qualification?
Yes. The entry requirements for this qualification include either a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or a current Unrestricted Electrician's Licence issued in an Australian state or territory.
What kind of inspection experience is typically required?
Successful candidates usually have significant experience conducting compliance inspections of LV installations, particularly those exceeding 100 A per phase, and a deep understanding of electrical safety auditing.
