Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is RPL for the Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations currently available?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that offer this specific UEG40222 qualification. While not immediately available, registering your interest allows us to notify you as soon as the pathway opens.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest helps us gauge demand for this qualification, which can accelerate our partnership process with RTOs. It ensures you are positioned at the front of the queue for a free skills review once the recognition pathway is established.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
RPL is a different form of evidence. While a standard course teaches you new skills, RPL recognises the expertise you have already developed on the job. Both pathways lead to the same nationally recognised qualification, but RPL respects your prior investment of time in the industry.
Will I need to provide technical reports as evidence?
Yes, as part of the evidence portfolio for a Certificate IV level, you will likely need to provide examples of technical reports, operational plans, or environmental compliance records you have compiled during your work in the gas industry.
What happens if the assessor identifies gaps in my evidence?
If the RTO's qualified assessor determines that your evidence doesn't fully meet the national standard for certain units, they will identify specific gaps. You will then be provided with targeted gap training to address those areas, ensuring you can still work toward the full qualification.
