About This Qualification
This qualification has the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required for specialised or skilled work in the conservation and ecosystem management industry. The qualification provides for advanced skills and/or supervisory roles in a broad range of conservation and ecological work or can focus on areas of specific needs including: supervisory and managementindigenous land managementecosystem managementpest controllerfire management.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. Whether achieved through study or recognition of prior learning, the qualification is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and holds the same national weight. It recognises that your experience meets the same rigorous standards as a classroom graduate.
How do I prove my experience in remote or field-based locations?
Evidence for conservation work often includes site photos, GPS data, field logs, and witness testimonials from supervisors or clients. We guide you on how to compile these into a portfolio that clearly demonstrates your competency to an assessor.
What if my experience is specifically in Indigenous land management?
This qualification is highly flexible. The evidence you provide regarding the protection of cultural places and community consultation is directly applicable to the elective units, allowing your specific expertise to be formally recognised.
