About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the skills and knowledge required for skilled and paraprofessional work in conservation and ecosystem management. Workers with this qualification perform in operational managerial and/or technical positions often with specialist skills and knowledge in a range of sectors.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for the Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management. By registering your interest, you will be among the first to know when we are ready to guide candidates through the RPL process for this qualification.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through traditional study. It is issued by a Registered Training Organisation, meets the same national standards, and carries the same weight with employers and industry bodies.
What kind of evidence will I eventually need to provide?
You will need to provide documentation that demonstrates your competency in areas such as conducting biological surveys, developing management plans, and managing ecological restoration. This typically includes work samples, reports, project plans, and evidence of managing teams or budgets within a conservation context.
Does this qualification cover Indigenous land management?
Yes, the qualification includes elective groups focused on Indigenous land management, cultural resource conservation, and working within Community cultures. If your experience is in these areas, we will work to align your evidence with those specific units during the recognition process.
