What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?

Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.

You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Why should I register my interest now?+
Registering your interest allows us to notify you the moment a recognition pathway becomes available. It also helps us demonstrate the demand for this qualification to our RTO partners, potentially accelerating the availability of the service.
Is the RPL process the same as studying?+
No. While traditional study focuses on teaching you new skills, RPL is a process of recognition. It involves a qualified assessor evaluating the evidence of the skills you have already developed through your professional work.
What if my experience is specifically in recruitment?+
Experience in recruitment often provides a strong foundation for several units in this qualification, particularly those relating to understanding employment information and supporting people in career transition.
Will I need to attend an interview as part of the assessment?+
As part of the formal assessment, an RTO assessor may conduct a competency conversation with you. This is an opportunity to discuss your experience and demonstrate your depth of knowledge in career development frameworks.
How do I know if my evidence is sufficient?+
Once a pathway is established, your dedicated consultant will guide you through a free skills review. We will be honest with you about whether your current evidence is likely to meet the national standards for this qualification.
What does registering my interest mean?+
Registering your interest means you'd like to be notified when this qualification becomes available through RPL. There's no commitment. We'll contact you when an RTO partnership is confirmed for this qualification.
Why isn't this qualification available yet?+
RPL It works with partner RTOs to deliver qualifications. We're currently exploring RTO partnerships for this qualification. Registering your interest helps us prioritise which qualifications to focus on next.
What happens after I register my interest?+
You'll receive a confirmation, and we'll keep your details on file. When a partner RTO is confirmed for this qualification, we'll contact you with the next steps, including how to start your free skills review.
Can I still do a free skills review for this qualification?+
Yes. A free skills review helps you understand whether your experience aligns with the qualification requirements, regardless of whether an RTO partner is currently available. It's a useful first step while you wait.
