About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply the skills and knowledge to undertake a career as an athlete at a regional, state or national level in a specific sport in the Australian sport industry. Athletes at this level may have access to match-payments, prize money, grants or endorsements as the primary source of their income.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in professional sports. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when a pathway is available.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering helps us understand the demand for this specific pathway. It ensures you receive direct updates as soon as an RTO partner is ready to assess evidence for the Certificate III in Sport - Athlete.
Is RPL the same as a sports trial or assessment?
No. While a trial assesses current physical performance, RPL assesses evidence of your professional career. This includes your ability to manage finances, brand, and safety as a professional athlete over time.
Can my competition history be used as evidence?
Lived experience in high-level competition is a primary form of evidence. Records of your participation, ranking, and professional conduct in these environments demonstrate your competency against national standards.
Is this the same as a traditional sports course?
RPL recognises what you have already achieved in your career. Rather than teaching you how to be an athlete, it provides a guided process to demonstrate that your existing professional experience meets the qualification requirements.
