What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of auditing Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partners to ensure they meet our standards for the Certificate III in Mobile Crane Operations. Registering your interest ensures you are notified as soon as the pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering allows us to begin a preliminary review of your industry experience and keeps you informed of partnership developments, ensuring you are well-positioned when the formal recognition process begins.
Is RPL the same as completing a crane course?
RPL focuses on your existing expertise. Instead of attending classes to learn how to operate a crane, you provide evidence of the mobile crane operations you have already performed in a professional capacity.
Will my existing High Risk Work licences be considered?
Yes. Current licences for dogging, rigging, or specific crane classes are excellent forms of evidence that demonstrate your competency against the national standards required for this qualification.
What happens if I have gaps in my mobile crane experience?
If the RTO assessor identifies specific areas where your evidence does not fully meet the requirements, our partners provide targeted gap training to address those units at no additional cost to you.
Does this qualification guarantee a crane operator licence?
While the qualification includes the necessary units of competency, the final High Risk Work licence is issued by your state regulator following a successful practical assessment.
