Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is the Certificate III in Arts and Cultural Administration currently available through RPL it?
This qualification is currently in our development pipeline. We are in the process of identifying and establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that meet our standards for quality and integrity in the arts sector.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to gauge demand and prioritises this qualification for our RTO partnership team. You will be the first to know when a formal recognition pathway is established, ensuring your experience is ready for assessment as soon as possible.
Is RPL the same as completing a study course?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a different form of assessment. While a traditional course teaches you new skills, RPL assesses the expertise you have already acquired through your work in arts organisations. The resulting qualification is the same and is equally valued.
What if my experience is primarily in a small community arts centre?
The RPL process values experience across a range of arts environments, including community centres. If your role involved administrative support, customer service, or event assistance, your experience is highly relevant to this qualification.
Will I need to provide physical evidence of my venue work?
Yes. Recognition requires evidence. This might include documents you have created, such as run sheets or marketing drafts, as well as third-party reports from supervisors who can verify your competence in a venue or gallery setting.
