About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a limited range of tasks in the outdoor power equipment retail, service and repair industry. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL it Australia?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that offer this specific qualification. While we cannot facilitate an assessment today, registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway opens.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering helps us gauge the demand for this qualification, which allows us to prioritise it when forming new RTO partnerships. It also ensures you receive a direct notification the moment we can begin guiding candidates through the evidence process.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through traditional study. It is nationally recognised and meets the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) standards.
What types of equipment experience are relevant for this qualification?
Experience with a wide range of outdoor machinery is valuable, including rotary and drum mowers, chainsaws, line trimmers, post-hole diggers, portable generators, and pumping systems.
Do I need to have formal automotive training already?
No. This Certificate II level qualification is designed for those who have developed their skills on the job. RPL is about assessing the competence you have already gained through practical experience rather than requiring you to start as a beginner.
