Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL It?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in aviation cargo services. While we cannot facilitate assessments for AVI20119 at this moment, registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway opens.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering allows us to gauge the demand for this specific aviation qualification. It also ensures that once an RTO partnership is finalised, we can guide you through the evidence-gathering process immediately, respecting the time you have already invested in your career.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through traditional study. Both are nationally recognised and must meet the same rigorous assessment standards set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
How does my experience with Dangerous Goods count toward RPL?
Experience in handling or accepting dangerous goods for air transport is a significant component of this qualification. Evidence such as DG certificates, acceptance checklists, and safety logs can demonstrate your competency in these high-risk units.
Does this qualification grant me an ASIC or airport access?
No. A Certificate II in Aviation (Flight Operations-Cargo Services) is an educational credential. Security clearances like the Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) are separate regulatory requirements managed by the Department of Home Affairs and airport operators.
Will I need to demonstrate my skills to an assessor?
As part of the formal assessment, an RTO assessor may request a practical demonstration or a technical interview. This ensures that your lived experience translates accurately into the competencies required by the national training package.
