About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of routine tasks relating to replacing, fitting, installing and adjusting automotive accessories in the automotive service and repair industry and carry out work according to Australian Design Rules (ADR) compliance and Vehicle Standard Bulletin (VSB) requirements.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of identifying and establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that can deliver this specific qualification. While not currently active, registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway opens.

Registering allows us to gauge demand and accelerate the partnership process. It also ensures that once a suitable RTO partner is secured, you will receive tailored guidance on how to begin documenting your experience for assessment.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification earned through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through traditional study. Both are issued by a Registered Training Organisation and meet the same Australian national standards.
What kind of electrical work is covered in this qualification?
The qualification focuses on basic ancillary systems. This includes the installation of lighting, security systems, in-vehicle entertainment, and battery setups, rather than complex diagnostic auto-electrical repair.
How do I prove I follow ADR compliance during the RPL process?
Evidence can include completed installation checklists, supervisor sign-offs on work orders, and clear photographic evidence of your work that demonstrates adherence to Vehicle Standard Bulletins and Australian Design Rules.
