Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available for RPL assessment?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that hold this Graduate Certificate on their scope. While we cannot facilitate an immediate assessment, we are building the pathway for future candidates.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest ensures you are the first to be notified once a suitable RTO partner is secured. It also allows our consultants to provide preliminary guidance on your evidence portfolio so you are well-positioned when the pathway opens.
Is RPL the same as completing a police command course?
RPL is not a training course; it is an assessment of the skills you have already developed. While command courses provide the learning, RPL provides the formal recognition of the competency you demonstrate daily in your management role.
What level of policing experience is required for this Graduate Certificate?
This is a post-graduate level qualification intended for those in management or specialist roles. Generally, you will need at least one year of experience in a relevant specialist or leadership field, building upon a Diploma of Policing or equivalent.
Will my internal police training count towards this qualification?
Yes, internal training and command-level workshops are excellent forms of evidence. A qualified assessor will review your training records alongside your practical workplace experience to determine if they meet the national standards.
What happens if my evidence doesn't cover all six core units?
If an assessor identifies areas where your evidence is insufficient, the RTO will provide targeted gap training. This allows you to complete only the specific components required to meet the full qualification standard.
