About This Qualification
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for specialist or managerial job roles in the production horticulture industry including owner, farm manager, head grower, crop manager, section manager, dispatch manager, sales manager, marketing manager and specialist consultants. Individuals with this qualification will take personal responsibility and exercise autonomy in undertaking complex work.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and carries the same national weight as one earned through traditional study. The difference lies in how you demonstrate your competency; using your existing experience as evidence.
What if my experience is limited to a specific crop type?
The Diploma is designed to be flexible. Whether your expertise is in viticulture, tree crops, or protected cropping, your evidence can be specific to your industry niche as long as it demonstrates the required managerial and technical competencies.
Do I need to be a business owner to qualify?
No. While owner-operators are eligible, the qualification is equally suited to individuals in managerial or specialist roles within larger horticultural enterprises, such as section managers or specialist consultants.
How do I prove my skills in plant health diagnosis?
Evidence can include diagnostic reports you have written, treatment plans you have implemented, and photographic evidence of crop management outcomes you have overseen.
