About This Qualification
This qualification allows for the attainment of skills and knowledge in police search and rescue (SAR) coordination while also specialising in either marine or land SAR duties. The marine specialisation covers skills that allow police officers to employ specialised knowledge and skilled practice in SAR coordination within a marine environment.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

This qualification is currently in our development phase. We are in the process of identifying and establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that have this specific qualification on their scope.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to gauge the demand for this specific police qualification. It also ensures you are the first to be notified as soon as we have a partner RTO ready to facilitate the RPL process for you.
Is RPL the same as completing a police training course?
No. While a course teaches you new skills, RPL is a formal assessment process that recognises the skills you have already developed through your years of service and operational coordination in the field.
Can I specialize in both Land and Marine SAR?
The qualification allows for specialisation in either field. If your experience spans both land and marine environments, your evidence portfolio can be tailored to reflect your specific expertise in either or both areas.
What happens if my evidence has gaps?
If the RTO assessor identifies areas where your evidence doesn't fully meet the national standard, they will provide targeted gap training. This builds on your existing experience rather than requiring you to start the unit from scratch.
