About This Qualification
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for technical and leadership job roles in the irrigation industry. Individuals with this qualification will take personal responsibility and exercise autonomy in undertaking complex work.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL it?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in irrigation design. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when we have a confirmed pathway available.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering ensures you receive priority notification once the qualification is live. It also allows us to begin a preliminary review of your experience so you are well-positioned for the assessment process when it opens.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is issued by an RTO and is identical to one earned through traditional study. It is nationally recognised and meets the same Australian Qualifications Framework standards.
What level of design experience is required for this Diploma?
The Diploma of Irrigation Design is a high-level qualification. You should have experience in determining hydraulic parameters, designing full systems, and developing maintenance programs rather than just basic installation.
Does this qualification cover drainage as well as irrigation?
Yes, the qualification includes core competencies in developing irrigation and drainage management plans, as well as soil use mapping to ensure the system is environmentally sustainable.
