About This Qualification

This qualification reflects the job of early-career foresters and forestry field officers with specialist roles in forest operations management and forest resource management. Individuals with this qualification apply a broad range of advanced technical and management skills and forest knowledge to inform and contribute to forest management plans and manage forestry operations. This includes using industry-specific software, modelling and analysing forestry data and optimising forest management practice to improve production processes and wood flow outcomes. At this level, individuals are expected to apply autonomy and judgement. They take responsibility for their own outputs at the workplace. This qualification enables specialisations in: Forest Operations Management orForest Resource Management. When will RPL for the Diploma of Forest Operations be available?
We are currently in the process of identifying and partnering with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in the FWP training package. Availability depends on finding a partner that meets our standards for rigorous and respectful assessment.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to gauge demand and expedite the partnership process. You will be the first to know when a pathway is established, and we can begin a preliminary review of your experience in anticipation of the launch.
Is RPL for this Diploma the same as studying it?
The outcome is identical. Whether you achieve the qualification through study or recognition of prior learning, the certificate is nationally recognised and issued by an RTO. RPL simply respects the fact that you have already acquired the necessary competencies through your career.
What level of autonomy is expected for this qualification?
At the Diploma level, assessors look for evidence that you apply significant autonomy and judgement in the workplace. This includes taking responsibility for operational outputs and managing complex technical forestry data.
Do I need to be currently working as a Forester?
While current employment is beneficial, the assessment focuses on your cumulative experience. If you have a strong history in forest resource management or operations management, you may be well-positioned for recognition regardless of your current job title.
