What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver this specific qualification. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when the pathway becomes active.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering helps us prioritise the qualifications most in demand. It also allows us to begin a preliminary review of your experience so you are well-positioned for assessment once an RTO partner is secured.
Is recognition of prior learning the same as studying the course?
The outcome is identical. Whether you study or undergo RPL, the qualification is nationally recognised and meets the same Australian Quality Framework standards. The difference lies in using your existing expertise as the primary evidence of competency.
Does my experience with HACCP plans count toward this qualification?
Yes, developing and maintaining HACCP-based food safety plans is a core competency. Your work in this area serves as significant evidence for several units within the Diploma.
What if I have auditing experience but not in a regulatory capacity?
The RPL process looks at the skills you have applied. If you have conducted internal audits or quality assurance audits that align with the national standards, this experience can be mapped against the qualification requirements.
Will I need to demonstrate microbiological knowledge?
The qualification includes units on microbiological techniques and analysis. If your role involves interpreting lab results or managing food safety hazards based on microbiological data, that experience is highly relevant.
