About This Qualification

This qualification reflects pre-hospital and out-of-hospital workers employed to provide patient assessment, healthcare and transport services. These workers possess clinical skills and theoretical knowledge and provide clinical assessment and pre-hospital and out-of-hospital interventions to patients in an emergency, including providing advanced skills in life support. This qualification applies to a variety of roles within the health care and patient transport system.To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 160 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of Units of Competency.

When will RPL for this qualification be available?▾

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in emergency health. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when the RPL pathway is open for assessment.

Why should I register my interest?▾

Registering helps us prioritise which qualifications we bring to market first. It also ensures you receive early access to our skills review process once we have finalised our RTO partnerships for the Diploma of Emergency Health Care.

Is RPL the same as studying the course?▾

RPL is a different pathway to the same outcome. While a traditional course teaches you new skills, RPL recognises the skills you already have. The assessment standards are identical, ensuring your qualification carries the same national weight.

How do I demonstrate my clinical competency?▾

Competency is demonstrated through a portfolio of evidence, which may include clinical logs, supervisor testimonials, and de-identified patient records. A qualified assessor from the RTO will review these to ensure they meet the national training standard.

What happens if I have gaps in my experience?▾

If the RTO assessor identifies specific areas where your evidence is insufficient, they will provide targeted gap training. This allows you to complete only the units or components you need, rather than repeating what you already know.
