Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this health care qualification be available?
We are currently in the process of vetting Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to ensure they meet our standards for respectful and rigorous assessment. Registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to understand the demand and specific experience levels of health care workers. It also ensures you receive updates on evidence requirements and can begin preparing your portfolio early.
Is RPL the same as completing a health care course?
No. While the resulting qualification is identical, RPL is an assessment process for those who already possess the skills. It recognises your existing expertise rather than requiring you to repeat training for things you already do daily.
How do I prove my 80 hours of work experience?
As part of the evidence portfolio, you will provide logbooks, timesheets, or third-party reports from supervisors that verify you have completed at least 80 hours of clinical work in a health care response environment.
What happens if the assessor identifies a gap in my evidence?
If the RTO assessor determines that your evidence doesn't fully cover a specific unit, they will provide targeted gap training. This allows you to complete only the specific learning required rather than starting the entire qualification over.
Who conducts the actual assessment?
The formal assessment is conducted by a qualified assessor from a partner Registered Training Organisation. Our role is to guide you through the documentation process and help you present your experience as clear evidence.
