Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

What Kind of Experience Counts?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for this qualification be available?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that hold this qualification on their scope. We recommend registering your interest to receive an immediate update once the assessment pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering ensures you are at the front of the queue when we finalise our RTO partnerships. It also helps us understand the demand for this specific qualification, allowing us to prioritise its release in our system.
Is RPL the same as completing a management course?
Not exactly. While the final qualification is the same, RPL is an assessment process that recognises the skills you have already developed on the job. It focuses on evidence of your existing competency rather than requiring you to learn new material.
What level of autonomy is expected for this Diploma?
The Diploma of Civil Construction Management is designed for those who apply significant judgement in planning and site management. It is suited to individuals who develop site-specific instructions and are responsible for implementing management systems across one or more sites.
What if I lack evidence for one specific management area?
If the RTO's assessor identifies a gap in your evidence portfolio, such as in environmental or quality management plans, targeted gap training can be provided. This ensures you can meet the national standard without needing to repeat the entire qualification.
Will my site experience in different states be recognised?
Yes, experience gained across different Australian states can be used as evidence. The qualification is nationally recognised, though you should always check local licensing requirements if you intend to move between states.
