What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the exploratory phase for the Certificate IV in Residential Drafting. This involves identifying RTO partners who meet our standards for rigorous and respectful assessment of drafting experience.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest helps us gauge industry demand and prioritise our partnership development. It also ensures you are the first to know when a formal recognition pathway becomes available for your skills.
Is RPL the same as completing a drafting course?
RPL focuses on the recognition of skills you have already acquired through your work in the industry, whereas traditional study involves learning those skills from scratch. Both pathways result in the same nationally recognised qualification.
Will I need to demonstrate my CAD skills?
Yes. As part of the assessment process, a qualified assessor will review your ability to use industry-standard CAD software to produce accurate and compliant residential documentation.
Does my experience with the National Construction Code count?
Absolutely. Lived experience in applying NCC requirements to Class 1 and 10 buildings is critical evidence of your competency in the residential drafting sector.
