About This Qualification

The PUA41019 Certificate IV in Public Safety (Leadership) is designed for emergency service and public safety personnel who undertake work in collaborative leadership roles. Individuals in emergency service and public safety leadership positions will be required to manage personnel, supplies and equipment as well as incidents and/or disasters as they arise. The role of a public safety leader involves the ability to implement change by inspiring individuals, teams and organisations, establishing and sharing a clear vision, providing information and methods to realise that vision whilst balancing the conflicting interests of key stakeholders. This may include negotiating with other organisations, communicating with personnel, consensus building and developing strategic plans. This qualification includes the units of competency required by emergency service and public safety personnel to perform in a range of leadership activities based on decision making, prioritisation, problem solving and guidance in difficult situations. It typically involves leading teams and/or organisations. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
