About This Qualification
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for supervisory/managerial job roles in the production horticulture industry including grower, field manager, supervisor, crop grower, plant manager, integrated pest manager, quality assurance, compliance manager and human resources manager. Individuals with this qualification perform tasks involving technical skills, problem solving and supervisory skills to operate, monitor and improve performance of production horticulture systems and may supervise staff.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning is identical to one earned through traditional study. It is issued by a Registered Training Organisation, follows the same national standards, and carries the same weight with employers and industry bodies.
What level of experience do I need for a Certificate IV?
The Certificate IV is designed for those in supervisory or managerial roles. Typically, we look for individuals with at least three to five years of experience in the industry, including significant time spent leading teams or managing specific production systems.
Will I need to demonstrate my knowledge of biosecurity?
Yes. As a core unit of this qualification, you will need to provide evidence that you can plan and implement biosecurity programs. This might include site maps, quarantine procedures, or records of monitoring for pests and diseases.
What happens if I have experience but no formal budget training?
The RPL process recognises on-the-job learning. If you have managed costs, monitored spending against targets, or contributed to financial planning in a production environment, this can serve as evidence. If a gap is identified, the RTO can provide targeted training to help you meet the requirement.
