This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed in the supervision and management of offenders and detainees. It allows for the attainment of general competencies, dog handling competencies or specialisations in supervision and leadership, case management, community or emergency response streams. The general qualification covers competencies that reflect advanced practice and greater team leadership roles of experienced individuals. The case management specialisation covers the competencies required by individuals responsible for case management of offenders in custodial or community settings. The community specialisation covers the competencies required by individuals responsible for supervising offenders directly or indirectly in the community and within specified parameters of responsibility defined by work activities, or by the complexity of assessment offenders’ needs and risks. The emergency response specialisation covers the competencies required by individuals responsible for responding to and supervising serious incidents or events that occur within custodial settings. The supervision specialisation covers the competencies required by individuals responsible for supervising staff and/or offenders in the correctional environment. The dog handling elective group covers competencies suitable for individuals responsible for the maintenance of canine health and welfare and the utilisation of canines for detection and security purposes. The RTO tells you exactly what evidence it needs for your specific qualification, and your RPL it consultant helps you put it together.
Yes, if you hold a qualification or Statement of Attainment that includes units equivalent to units in this qualification. This is called credit transfer. The delivering RTO checks your AQF certification documents or authenticated VET transcript. Where a unit is equivalent and your certification is authenticated, the RTO must grant credit for it. It can refuse only on limited grounds, for example where a licensing or regulatory requirement calls for reassessment.
