Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

When will RPL for CSC30122 be available through RPL It?
We are currently in the discovery phase for this qualification, identifying Registered Training Organisations that meet our standards for rigour and candidate support. By registering your interest, you help us gauge demand and accelerate the establishment of this pathway.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering ensures you are the first to know when a partner RTO is ready to begin assessments. It also allows us to provide you with an early guidance pack to help you start organising your evidence before the formal process begins.
Is RPL for correctional practice the same as completing the course?
Yes. The qualification issued through RPL is identical to the one earned through study. Both pathways assess your competency against the same national standards; RPL simply recognises that you have already met those standards through your years of work.
Can I specialise in the Adult or Youth Custodial streams via RPL?
Recognition is based on your specific experience. If your work history is within a custodial setting, we will guide you toward an RTO that can assess your evidence against the relevant specialist units for that stream.
What if I have experience in immigration detention rather than a prison?
The skills developed in detention centre environments, such as monitoring behaviour and maintaining security, are highly relevant. We can explore how your evidence aligns with the general or custodial specialisations within the correctional practice framework.
