Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL It?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for this specific qualification. By registering your interest, you will be notified as soon as a pathway for formal recognition is available.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest helps us understand the demand for this qualification in the industry. It ensures you are the first to know when our RTO partners are ready to begin assessments, allowing you to start documenting your experience sooner.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. Whether achieved through study or Recognition of Prior Learning, the qualification is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and holds the same national standing. The difference is that RPL recognises the expertise you have already developed on the job.
Will this qualification allow me to become an Authorised Officer?
This qualification provides the foundational knowledge required for regulatory roles, but the actual appointment as an Authorised Officer is made by your local council or state government body. They will use this qualification as evidence of your competency during their appointment process.
I work in a remote community; can my experience be recognised?
Absolutely. The Certificate IV in Animal Regulation and Management specifically includes electives for rural and remote work. Your experience supporting veterinary activities or managing community animal health is highly valuable evidence for this qualification.
What happens if the assessor identifies gaps in my evidence?
If the RTO's assessor finds that your evidence doesn't fully cover certain units, our partners will provide targeted gap training. This allows you to complete the missing components without needing to repeat the areas where you are already competent.
