Could RPL Be Right for You?

Experience can be evidence.

RPL is the process that helps you demonstrate it.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you've gained through your career to determine whether you meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. It isn't a shortcut — it applies the same assessment standards as any other pathway.

RPL typically involves:

📋

A review of your work experience against the qualification requirements

💼

Compilation of an evidence portfolio demonstrating your competency

👤

Assessment by a qualified assessor from a Registered Training Organisation

🎯

If gaps are identified, targeted training to build on your existing expertise

ℹ️ Important Pathway Advice

RPL isn't the right pathway for everyone. If you don't have substantial, relevant, and current industry experience, a traditional study pathway may serve you better.

Our approach:

“We'd rather guide you to the right pathway than enrol you in the wrong one.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this qualification and RPL.

Is this qualification currently available for RPL?
We are currently in the process of identifying and partnering with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that can deliver this specific qualification via RPL. At this stage, we are accepting registrations of interest so we can notify you as soon as the pathway is open.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering your interest helps us understand the demand for food processing recognition. It also ensures you are the first to be contacted when we have a confirmed RTO partner ready to assess your experience against the national standard.
Is RPL the same as studying the course?
Yes. Whether you achieve the qualification through study or RPL, the resulting certificate is the same. The difference is that RPL recognises your existing expertise, allowing you to demonstrate your competency through evidence rather than repeating training.
Does this cover specific sectors like brewing or dairy?
Yes, this qualification allows for various specialisations including brewing, dairy processing, distilling, confectionery, and milling. Your evidence would be assessed against the specific requirements of your chosen industry sector.
How much experience do I need for RPL?
While there is no fixed minimum, you typically need enough experience to provide evidence for every unit in the qualification. For a Certificate III, this usually means several years of working autonomously in a food processing environment.
