About This Qualification
This is a qualification for fire protection technicians responsible for non-trade installation, commissioning and complex servicing of fire protection systems or for supervision of fire protection services work. At Certificate III level, fire protection technicians may specialise in activities relating to certain types of systems, such as: installing and commissioning pre-engineered fire-suppression systemsinstalling gaseous fire-suppression system containers and actuatorsconducting complex servicing of fire protection systems.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the discovery phase, identifying Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) with the appropriate scope to assess this qualification. We recommend registering your interest to be notified as soon as a pathway is established.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering interest helps us gauge industry demand for specific fire protection pathways. It also allows us to provide you with preliminary guidance on evidence collection so you are prepared when the pathway opens.
Is RPL the same as completing the course through study?
Yes. The resulting qualification is nationally recognised and identical to one earned through traditional study. The difference lies in the assessment method; RPL recognises the skills you have already mastered through your work in the fire protection industry.
What if I only work with specific types of fire systems?
The qualification allows for specialisation through its elective units. Whether your expertise is in gaseous systems or pre-engineered suppression, the RPL process focuses on the specific evidence of competency you can provide in those areas.
Who conducts the formal assessment?
All formal assessments are conducted by qualified assessors from our partner Registered Training Organisations. Our role is to guide you in compiling a comprehensive portfolio that clearly demonstrates your competency to the assessor.
